Math Anxiety

Interesting commentary on Entrepreneurs and Math Anxiety

Based on a research report that included

  • Math anxiety feelings of dread and fear and avoiding math can sap the brain’s limited amount of working capacity, a resource needed to compute difficult math problems, said Mark Ashcroft, a psychologist at the University of Nevada Los Vegas who studies the problem.”
  • It turns out that math anxiety occupies a person’s working memory, said Ashcroft, who spoke on a panel at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in San Francisco.”

I have math anxiety. I am flunking math095 and I need this class and one more for my associates degree. I am afraid because if I cannot pass I will not be able to be a drug and alcohol counselor. I have a 3.53 GPA, I have nothing lower than a B on my trascript and now math is going to ruin that! I see a tutor and I am still flunking.

Thanks for contacting us. I recommend that you talk to a counsellor in your college: there you can probably find tools to learn how to deal with anxiety, which may be blocking your willingness and desire to learn math.

    Please see this article:

You can find the Freeze-Framer program in our website. Still, most likely someone in your university does have it and can offer it to you. Please let me know if we can be of more help. Regards
